Exchange and Gmail Issues in Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks

Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks

We wanted to give Mac users a quick heads up on some issues we've been seeing with Mavericks (a.k.a. OS X 10.9), Apple's latest Mac operating system. It appears that the new version of Mail included in Mavericks was not quite ready for prime time. Folks who use Mail to access Gmail or Microsoft Exchange email accounts (read: a lot of users) are reporting problems. Gmail folders are not syncing properly with Mail, and Exchange users are having a hard time sending messages.

Apple is currently working on updates to fix these issues, so if you have upgraded to Mavericks, be sure to apply any software updates that become available. In the meantime, we recommend using a different email client (such as Microsoft Outlook) whenever possible.

If you haven't upgraded to Mavericks--especially if you're a business user--we also recommend that you wait a bit before doing so. Issues like these are fairly common with new OS releases, and it can take a few months to get them all sorted out. Also, stay tuned to our blog, as we'll have more to say on upgrading to Mavericks soon.
