Meet Mike and Marvin, Our Newest Systems Engineers!

As we celebrate the holiday season, we’re delighted to announce two new additions to the Affinity family! Please help us welcome our newest Systems Engineers, Mike Olson and Marvin Stephens. Read on to get to know them.

Mike Olson

Meet Mike

Mike Olson is a consummate IT veteran, with over 26 years of experience in the field, and a genuinely friendly guy. This makes him a great fit for our mission to execute and deliver technology solutions on a consistent basis and to delight our clients on a daily basis by providing an excellent service experience. Mike checks both boxes!

Prior to arriving at Affinity, Mike worked as a Network Administrator for the United Methodist Church’s General Board of Higher Education. In the past, he has worked in numerous industries as both an in-house IT professional and as an engineer for managed service providers (including one he owned himself!) in Nashville and Minneapolis.

Mike has numerous IT certifications, including Microsoft’s A+ as well as certifications for vendors from IBM to Lexmark. He attended both North Dakota State College of Science, where he earned his Associate’s Degree in electronics, and Minot State University.

Outside of work, Mike enjoys listening to music (in fact, working on audio equipment is what got him into IT!), camping, hiking, and kayaking. He also has three sons – the youngest of which (7) keeps Mike young by insisting that he jump on their trampoline – as well as a grandson.

Marvin Stephens

Meet Marvin

Like Mike, Marvin Stephens has the mix of technical expertise, experience, and friendliness that is essential to our mission. Marvin’s IT experience spans numerous industries, including, most recently, tenure as a Customer Support Engineer for Education Networks of America (ENA) here in Nashville.

Marvin got into technology at a young age. When his older brother, who also works in IT, saw how much Marvin enjoyed learning how to burn CDs on his first computer, he took it upon himself to show Marvin how to do more advanced computing and even introduced him to the Linux operating system. Marvin took his passion for technology into his professional life, earning his CCNA certification and developing his career as an IT expert.

Outside of work, Marvin enjoys riding his motorcycle, listening to a wide variety of music (from reggae to gospel), and spending time with his six kids.
