October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month!

2021 is the 18th year celebrating October as National Cyber Security Awareness Month across the United States. Started by the National Cyber Security Division within the Department of Homeland Security and the nonprofit National Cyber Security Alliance, the month raises awareness about the importance and relevance of cybersecurity. It is a collaborative effort between government and industry, and Affinity Technology Partners is proud to participate.

In recent years, Affinity has focused on bringing formerly enterprise-only level security tools to small and mid-sized businesses. The reason for this is that, in addition to good email hygiene, tools such as security information and event management (SIEM) provide a proactive approach to detecting, alerting, and facilitating a response to cyber security incidents. These tools aggregate and analyze activity from many different resources across an entire IT infrastructure to increase security. These are important tools for businesses of all sizes to consider, as cyber insurance policies are beginning to require such tools to be used in order to cover compensation for expenses and legal costs resulting from a cyber breach within a company.

Raising awareness about this topic is the first step in making your company more secure. At Affinity, we aim to inform about the importance of cybersecurity and partner with you to ensure your company’s security online. Look out for future blog posts about cybersecurity tools that are available for you and best practices to remember.
